Features and Options

My 2012 TSX Wagon is equipped with the Technology Package.  There aren’t many more options you can get on this car other than some simple accessories, as the Tech Package includes:

– Navigation system,
– AcuraLink,
– Power Liftgate,
– Leather seats,
– Sunroof,
– Paddle shifters,
– 460 Watt, 10 speaker ELS sound system.

The tech package was a $3,500 option and as you can see it includes quite a lot.  The sound system fitted in Acura has won many comparisons, with such companies as Lexus’ Mark Levinson.  Even though I’m not an audiophile, I truly enjoy listening to music in this car.  The sound quality is impeccable to my novice ears and if you’d like to find out some more detailed information about it, here’s a good link with a proper review:

Navigation system is in this car is ok.  The screen is large and easy to read but the graphics look like an old computer game.  Acura being a car technology company could have tried a little harder making the screen resolution higher and implemented something like 3D mode.  I realize that the car is a few years old but in my opinion there was a enough technological advancement in 2012 to get it implemented, making this car a legitimate contender in an entry level luxury segment.  Also, with a top level subscription from XM/Sirius you can hook yourself up with real time traffic and weather information. Pretty cool if you travel a lot.

AcuraLink – I have yet made it to work….  Not sure what the problem is but I have AT&T as my cell phone carrier and for some reason, AcuraLink does not want to link up with my phone.  Don’t get me wrong… Bluetooth and handsfree phone functionality works just fine but it has nothing to do with AcuraLink.  AcuraLink should allow users to scroll through their text messages, email, etc. by using navigation screen. I need to do some research and finally get it to work.

Leather seats in this car are superb!  They have hugging side bolsters and are really, really comfortable.  I never had any problems, even after very long trips.  They have manual (!) lumbar support and are 8-way adjustable (electrically this time).  The leather itself is soft and it tends to show creases rather early, especially on the bottom cushion.  I make it a point to clean it with a high quality leather cleaner at least once a month to make them look great for longer.  So far I am very happy and I can easily say that seats are among my favorite features about this car.

Next blog will be about driving impressions…
